NYE plans made. Sort of. I need to call and reserve spots for tomorrow, all 8 of them.
I’m struggling (a bit vainly) to find something for NYE. It’s all either $$$$$ or laaaaaame.

The Patriot Network, I mean the NFL network, is terrible. They might as well put Tom Brady in front of a waving American Flag. Awful.
Or maybe… The New England Patriots: “I just wanna dance!”
The New England Patriots: “Congratulations for doing your f*cking job.”
Thank god I don’t have HBO in my apartment. I’d never do -anything-. Watching Dreamgirls.
On the road to Des Moines, IA, there is a sign warning “DO NOT PICK UP HITCHHIKERS.” Is this a common problem?
Midway Airport in Chicago has a parking lot dedicated to cell phone use (it’s illegal to be on the phone and drive here). That’s where I am.
My 70-something uncle: “I turned up the heat to 40 because you were coming.” Picture a man with a thick German accent hating on Bush.
Trying to find a cheap open bar for new year’s in Chicago. Yes, it’s impossible.
this is from my phone!
I have a new phone! The AT&T Tilt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_TyTN_II
Merry belated Christmas. I hope everyone’s enjoying the post-holiday coma!
After all is said and done, not a bad Christmas at...
We argued a lot over dinner (my parents, my brother, my uncle, my grandmother, my great-uncle, and myself). I think heated discourse like that is just the way my family talks. People comment on how much my brother and I argue, but after tonight, I think it may just run in the family. I spent a lot of time tonight videotaping my grandmother. My mother pointed out that we hadn’t recorded...
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas, all! My family’s still having trouble getting into the Christmas spirit, and I feel like things are a bit forced. That could just be my (and everyone else’s) lack of sleep talking though.
Don’t forget to check IsItChristmas.com tomorrow!!
I wrapped all of my Xmas gifts this year in newspaper. It actually looks pretty snazzy with metallic ribbon and a bow!

There are few things less funny than watching Paula Deen make double entendres and then pretend that she ‘didn’t mean it that way.’
I LOVE MY COUNTRY'S LANGUAGE. →
Here’s a pledge encouraged by the American Speech Committee that made the rounds back in 1918, an astonishing medley of patriotism and linguistic purism:
I love the United States of America. I love my country’s flag. I love my country’s language. I promise:
1. That I will not dishonor my country’s speech by leaving off the last syllable of words.
2. That I will say a good...
What this all means is:
My roommate is in town, after she told me she wasn’t coming, and has not even notified me that she’s here. Isn’t that the sort of things friends do? I suppose it is, does this mean we’re officially not friends? Finding out that she’s here from Luke is a low blow.
Last night... (via text message)
Luke: Megan wants dinner tomorrow downtown [Chicago] call me
Katrina: Megan who? And i don't think i can go downtown tomorrow.
Luke: Your roommate well if not im still coming by if you will be home
About a week ago...
Katrina: So are you going to Midwest [Clinic, an International Band and Orchestra Conference] this year?
Megan: No, it's so far away.
I have switched to ANOTHER blog. If I last until the new year with updates, I’ll make it a New Year’s resolution.
I am finally reading through JakobAndJulia.com. My mind is numb.

What do these albums have in common? That’s right… they were both part of a (stellar!) unit in History of Rock & Roll in the 70s and 80s — Heartland, Top 40, Power Pop, and AOR (Album Oriented Rock). The units I liked most in that class were: Art Rock (British and American) Singer/Songwriters (Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, Van Morrison, Paul Simon, I could go on…)...
